Psychological Evaluations

Evaluations are useful for clarifying diagnosis, more fully understanding learning strengths and weaknesses, and identifying recommendations for treatment, school, and other applicable interventions. They may also serve as a baseline measure from which to compare future performance and functioning.

The comprehensive psychological evaluation

is for children ages 6-16 and has several components which assess intellectual, academic, and psychological functioning:

  • Intelligence testing

  • Achievement testing

  • Behavioral questionnaires

  • Self-report questionnaires

  • Written report with recommendations

What to expect

The evaluation consists of several steps to evaluate a child’s functioning and develop recommendations.

  1. Intake: A 90-minute parent-only meeting to discuss concerns, review history, and outline the assessment process.

  2. Testing: 2–3 sessions with the client (about 2-2.5 hours each). Parents and teachers complete questionnaires for additional insight.

  3. Scoring & Report Writing: The clinician reviews all results, interprets findings, and prepares a comprehensive report.

  4. Feedback Session: A 1-hour meeting with parents to review results, discuss diagnoses (if indicated), and go over recommendations.

  5. Written Report: The finalized report is shared with the family.
